Who We Are- The Ithaca Farmers Market (IFM) is a member-run cooperative market that has been providing access to locally produced goods since 1973. With over 160 active vendors across agriculture, artisan, and food categories, IFM is governed by its vendor members through a Board of Directors.
About This Role
This is a hands-on, people-facing role. The right person is calm under pressure and consistent in how they treat people.
At a Glance: Parking Lot Attendant
📍 Ithaca Farmers Market — Steamboat Landing 💰 $20/hour
Training provided. Reports to the manager on duty.
THE ROLE
Oversee overflow parking lot & keep in contact with the office
Ensure the safety of staff and visitors throughout the shift
Manage traffic flow across a high-volume, logistically complex site
Solve problems on the fly and keep the traffic flowing.
SCHEDULE
Saturdays 8 AM – 3 PM (April through August)
Sundays 9 AM – 3 PM (May through August)
One person scheduled per day; most months include at least one full weekend off, scheduled in advance
Preference given to candidates available both days each weekend; single-day availability welcome to apply
SEASON
Start: May 2nd, 2026
End: September 30, 2026, with potential for extension
REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years old
Able to stand for extended periods outdoors in summer weather
Reliable, consistent availability throughout the season
Natural leader — calm, decisive, and positive under pressure
Strong communicator with the public and with staff
A problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic, people-facing environment
Committed to the schedule as written
BREAKS
Shifts over 6 hours: one paid 15-min break + one unpaid 30-min lunch
