Fall Creek Atelier is a jewelry and gift boutique located in the heart of Press Bay Alley in downtown Ithaca. We specialize in handmade jewelry, permanent jewelry, custom pieces, gemstones, and thoughtfully curated gifts. We're looking for a warm, reliable, customer-focused individual to join our small team as our Weekend Boutique Assistant.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting with people, takes pride in maintaining a beautiful and organized environment, and is excited to become an important part of a growing small business.
Schedule
This position is approximately 21 hours per week with a consistent schedule:
Monday: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
Sunday: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
For shifts longer than six (6) hours, a 30-minute unpaid meal break is required.
No Experience? No Problem.
No previous experience is required. We are happy to train the right person.
Training will be provided in all aspects of the position, including:
Permanent jewelry services
Effective sales techniques and customer service
Opening and closing procedures
Website updates and adding new products
Inventory management
Social media content creation
Marketing and promotional support
Any other responsibilities needed to support the boutique's success
About the Position:
Working in a small business means wearing many hats, and every day can look a little different. We're looking for someone who is adaptable, proactive, and excited to help the boutique thrive.
This is a hands-on assistant role for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is excited to grow alongside a small business.
Responsibilities:
Welcome and assist customers in a friendly, genuine, and professional manner
Process sales through our point-of-sale system
Answer questions about our jewelry, permanent jewelry services, and boutique offerings
Perform permanent jewelry services and appointments
Open and close the boutique independently
Take ownership of the boutique when working alone, ensuring customers receive exceptional service and the shop runs smoothly
Clean and maintain the entire boutique daily, including dusting, sweeping, organizing displays, restocking merchandise, cleaning mirrors and counters, tidying the back area, and keeping the space beautiful and inviting
Assist with merchandising and creating attractive displays
Create and post content to our social media platforms during every shift
Assist with marketing and advertising initiatives
Support special events, markets, and seasonal projects as needed
Jump in wherever needed to support the success of the boutique
Compensation & Perks:
$20.00 per hour
30% employee discount on boutique merchandise
Keep 100% of the tips you personally earn from permanent jewelry services and other eligible service appointments
Dress Code
Fall Creek Atelier is an upscale, welcoming boutique, and we ask team members to present themselves in a way that reflects our brand.
Classy, chic, and polished attire is required
Employees are encouraged to express their personal style while maintaining a professional appearance
Sweatpants, hoodies, pajama-style clothing, and overly casual attire are not permitted.

Interested in jewelry, fashion, handmade goods, or small business
Comfortable learning new skills and systems
Able to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting
Independent Contractor Information:
This position is classified as an independent contractor position. Contractors are responsible for:
Reporting and paying their own federal, state, and local income taxes
Paying any applicable self-employment taxes
Maintaining records required for their tax filings
Providing any documentation necessary to complete required tax forms, including a Form W-9
