Worldwide Books, a leading distributor of art exhibition catalogues and other books on art, architecture, photography and design is seeking applications for an associate within our approval-plan program, a key division of our company that assists academic and museum libraries in systematic collection development. The Approval-Plan Administrator has responsibility for the careful selection of appropriate art-related publications for clients in fulfillment of a wide range of acquisitions needs and budgets as detailed and defined by each library.
The successful candidate will have a broad knowledge of art and art history, excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-developed organizational and clerical skills, solid computer skills (including advanced skills using Excel and Word), and the ability to interact effectively with co-workers in a fast-paced work environment. The job requires good mental focus, excellent problem-solving skills, and the energy to process large numbers of books with efficiency and accuracy.
A bachelor’s degree in art history or a related field is preferred, as is a basic familiarity with at least one Western European language (preferably French, German or Italian). Previous experience in the book trade or the library field is a plus.
