The Cherry Arts Inc., seeks a flexible, organized, multi-tasking professional to join our dynamic team. This Business Manager role may be 20, 30 or 40 hours/week depending on the needs and skills of the candidate. The Business Manager will work with the rest of the staff in the operation and growth of Ithaca’s multidisciplinary arts hub, and our flexible venues, the Cherry Performance Space, Cherry Gallery & Camilla Schade Studio.
The position reports to the Artistic and Executive Director (AED) and will work independently and as part of the team, with a focus on financial and administrative operations. This position is a minimum 20-30 hr/week position, paid hourly. It may be possible to create a full-time position if circumstances permit. The position will be primarily in-person, but some remote work is possible. Some evenings and weekends are required. FINANCIAL/ MANAGEMENT (the central focus of the GM position):
- Keep expenditures and income up to date in Quickbooks
- Run up-to-date monthly financial reports for presentation to the board Finance Committee. Include significant anticipated revenue or expenses
- Work with accountant to troubleshoot accounting issues
- Deposit checks and cash receipts
- Disburse box-office split income to collaborating artists and companies
- Keep up to date with State and Federal tax payments and insurance policies
- Create and issue contracts for artists, technical labor, and venue rentals
- Invoice donors and other customers
- Prepare financial reports to assist in grant preparation and reporting
- Monitor day-to-day spend and trends
- Pay bills and arrange contracts for cleaning, snow removal and mowing
- Work with the AED and board to develop annual budget
- Maintain electronic or paper files of grants, contracts, bills and receipts
- Maintain database of Cherry events and attendance
- Occasionally supervise Work-study students in administrative tasks
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cherry Arts is a small organization and from time to time the entire staff is asked to pull together to achieve things that may be outside of strict job definitions. These tasks can include participating in organizing and attending fundraising events, helping out with box office or concessions sales for events, participating in major fundraising pushes or spring cleanings, and the like.
Job Type: 20-30 hours per week, depending on candidate desire and experience. For the right candidate, a full-time position could potentially be created.
