The Paleontological Research Institution has an immediate opening for a member of its senior management team. The Associate Director for Operations (ADO) is responsible for managing the finances, facilities, and human resources of the Institution, as well as supervision of staff responsible for visitor services in its public museum, retail sales (in-person and online), IT and facilities. The ADO partners with the Director and the rest of the senior staff to develop and manage budgets, develop and implement Institutional strategy, and interact closely with the Board of Trustees.
PRI is emerging from several years of significant institutional stress resulting from the defaulting of pledges from its largest donor. The new ADO will play a major role in helping the Institution on its path to recovery.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the Institution’s financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow monitoring, and daily data entry
and bookkeeping
• Work with the Director and senior leadership to develop and manage annual operating budgets, grant management, and long-term
financial planning
• Manage human resources functions including hiring, onboarding, performance management, benefits coordination, and HR
compliance
• Oversee facilities operations and maintenance for PRI’s buildings and grounds, including vendor coordination and capital
planning
• Supervise operational staff, including visitor services, museum retail operations (in-person and online), and IT and facilities
• Prepare materials and reports for the Board of Trustees and participate in Board and committee meetings as needed
• Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and internal systems to improve efficiency and accountability
• Ensure compliance with relevant nonprofit, financial, employment, and safety regulations
Qualified applicants will have:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask
• 7-10 years of progressive leadership in nonprofit operations or business administration
• MBA, MPA or equivalent experience in Finance/Operations
• Proficiency in fund accounting software, preferably Quickbooks, Microsoft Excel, and other CRM systems
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000, depending on experience
