The frets have been replaced and are still in pretty nice shape. I was getting some buzzes etc when it was tuned up to standard so it’s got heavy strings on it now and is tuned low-plays in tune with a nice low action. The long scale neck pushes the bridge off to the edge of the head which can give you a wide range of tones depending on where you place your hand.
It’s got a Menzies hide head on it .
All but one of the flange pieces are decoratively engraved, and the rim sports some beautiful marquetry.
Not a perfect banjo by any means but super cool. Fun as a second low-tuned banjo or get a little bit of repair work done and have a killer banjo. Could be a nice candidate for a new neck down the road, too. Probably not a good first banjo.
