Knut (pronounced ka-noot), has lived with us as a much-beloved pet since we brought him home as a puppy last spring. As he grows, he is displaying some behavior that suggests to us that he would be better suited to a working home where he has other creatures to protect. Although we have had Great Pyrenees in the past who were very content to be house pets, this does not seem to be the case for Knut, who does come from two working parents. An ideal home would also include older LGDs as well as an owner comfortable with handling dominant behaviors. Knut is healthy, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and has recently been neutered. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. He lives peacefully with other dogs and cats, but has not been tested with livestock. I will happily share more details about Knut with sincerely interested prospective owners who can provide a more suitable environment. There is a rehoming fee which will be donated to the Tompkins County SPCA.
