Join us in our cozy workshop space at our popup shop to knit, crochet, spin, felt, or just chat with other fiber artists. Bring a project and join us, meet your local fiber farmers and artists; bring a friend and share the joy of working with fiber!

Thursday November 13th- Spinning Wheel Speed Dating
Want to buy your first wheel but not sure which one is right for you? Or, are you an experienced spinner thinking about getting a different wheel? This is your opportunity to try out a new wheel. As in speed dating, participants will be paired with a wheel and have an opportunity to learn about its strengths and weaknesses before moving on to a new wheel. Participants with wheels are asked to bring them. Don’t have a wheel? Not a problem, we will have several extra available. Don’t have roving? There will be plenty available for purchase in the store.
Thursday December 11th- How to Wash Locks
Ever wondered how to wash locks to keep their structure intact? Karen Stern from Windsong Farm will be demonstrating the techniques she uses in her fiber work.

December’s gallery display at the LocalFiber Pop-up Shop is highlighting the functionality and beauty that is the fiber arts.
Using locally produced fiber from various species of fiber animals, LocalFiber presents the variety of texture, color and functionality that makes the fiber arts appealing to and useful for many.

Upcycling Textiles by Machine Needlefelting
November 8th 12:00 to 3:00 Cost $25
Join Terri from Stramba Fiber and Felt Studio in a fun lesson of repurposing scrap fibers,fabrics,yarns and textiles into new fabric yardage. We will start with a piece of batting/prefelt to layer with scrap fabrics, fibers and yarns left over from mill processing. We will run the layers through a needle felting machine creating a new piece of non woven fabric. Finished pieces could be cut and sewn into pillows or turned into wall hangings, sewn into bags etc. You will only be limited by your imagination. Materials will be provided, feel free to bring along any of your own scraps you would like to use. Finished piece will be approximately 20"x20"
Wool Wardrobe Revival: Visible Repair with a Purpose
November 16th 3:00-4:30 Cost: $25
Join Hannah from Broad Strides Farm for a sustainable visible knitwear mending workshop that celebrates repair as an act of care for both your clothes and the planet. Learn how to extend the life of your favorite wool, cashmere, and wool blend knits using eco-friendly materials and flexible techniques like needle felting and patchwork. Hannah will share a little bit about the history of textile revival and the use of wool as a resilient, flexible, and independently-sourced material. Bring your worn out sweaters or other garments that need some patching and TLC. You’ll leave empowered and equipped with new skills as well as with beautifully renewed garments that embody sustainability in style. Participants will be provided with a small needle felting kit, a selection of felt sheets and roving, scrap fabrics and sewing needles. Class size limited to 20 participants.

Learn to Spin
November 22nd 12:00-2:00
Cost: $20 (includes roving)
In this beginning spinning workshop, Amy Cook and Luci Huizinga, local fiber artists, will demonstrate how to prepare wool fibers for spinning or felting. They will teach the basics of spinning and plying wool fibers. There will be drop spindles and spinning wheels available for you to try your hand at spinning. Class size limited to 8 participants.
Needle Felt a Gnome

Julia Gray has been needle felting for years and loves to combine naturally dyed wool into loveable creatures. Come join her & learn how to needle felt a cute gnome for the holidays. Shaping and forming rolls of dry wool using a felting needle will transform into an adorable gnome before your eyes.
I will have foam boards, wool and felting needles for purchase or you can bring your own supplies.
If you already have a foam, felting needle and wool the workshop will be $20.00 .
If you require a kit (workshop included),the cost will be $45.00. You can buy a la carte. Class size limited to 8. Must be over 16 years old to participate.
Spinning from Locks
December 6th 1:00 - 3:00 Cost: $24 (includes 3 oz. of assorted locks)
Join Amy Glaser from Crooked Creek Sheep and Wool and Karen Stern from Windsong Farm to explore techniques for spinning from locks. We will be using wool locks from multiple sheep breeds to create lock-spun singles and variegated colored yarn from variegated flicked locks. Fiber types will include Wensleydale, Corriedale, Gotland, Shetland, Finn, Navaho Churro, Icelandic and locks from mixed-breed sheep. Participants will need to bring a spinning wheel and be comfortable starting and stopping the wheel to join fiber to a spun strand. There will be 2 wheels available for use for those without a wheel. These should be reserved at the time of registration. Class size limited to 10 participants.

Wet Felted Vessel
December 13th 1:00-3:00
Cost: $25
In this workshop Maureen Moose from Moose in the Meadow Farm will walk you through the process of using a resist to create a decorative felted bowl or vessel. Participants will leave with an understanding of basic wet felting techniques that may be used to create a variety of objects. Materials provided include wool roving and a selection of silk fabric and fibers to use in decorating your vessel. Class size limited to 8 participants.
Needle Felted Landscapes for the Holidays
December 14th 11:30-1:30
Cost: $10
Do you want to try and "paint" a landscape picture using only wool?
In this class, Sarah Davis will provide you with the techniques to create a miniature winter landscape for the holidays. The materials provided will include; a 4" hoop, muslin backing, 2 felting needles, some styrofoam for felting on, 2 finger guards, and roving in a variety of colors. Felting needles are very sharp, so there will be a waiver to sign. We ask that all participants are at least 15 years old. Class size limited to 10 participants..
