Back in the day, young women would collect items to use when they married and kept them in a piece of furniture called a “hope chest”. Those days are long gone, but furniture used for hope chests is still useful. This one held sweaters, but would be right at home at the foot of a bed for linens, blankets or extra pillows. It is 44 5/8” long, 19 ½” high and 17 3/8” deep. The internal compartment is 40 ½” wide, 14 ½” deep and 15” high. It has an unadorned traditional design and dark cherry finish in better-than-good condition.
