La Due Guitars will be offering an acoustic guitar setup, maintenance, care and evaluation seminar on Saturday, March 18th at 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. The purposes of the workshop are to show you:
How to evaluate a guitars general condition and the need for setup, action adjustment, truss rod adjustment or other work.
How to perform setup tasks, intonation and action adjustments on your own with simple tools.
How to understand humidity, what changes in humidity do to your guitar and how to protect your guitar from changing conditions.
Additional instruction will include include acoustic guitar geometry, how and why a guitar works and behaves as it does and will end with an open question and answer session. The seminar will be held at the La Due Guitars Workshop, in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Participants will receive a list of suppliers of tools, materials and parts for guitar maintenance, a list of tools, (required and optional) used in guitar setup and maintenance, an abrasive block for making bridge saddle adjustments, a feeler gage for measuring neck relief and a neck cradle for holding your guitar during work and restringing. You will be welcome to take notes and photographs during instruction. Space is strictly limited to eight participants.
