Reluctantly selling my beloved first touring bike because we have six bikes between two people and only five places to hang them! This is a vintage 1989 Bianchi Advantage hybrid frame, converted to a touring/commuter bike with drop handlebars, interrupter brakes to make upright riding comfortable (nice to have different positions while touring and also comes in handy with city riding to be more visible in traffic), and lots of great touches such as authentic Bianchi handlebar tape (brand new—just wrapped for you!) and vintage Bianchi bottle cages in classic celeste blue. Awesome retro Bianchi logos all over.

The seat tube is 49cm. I am just shy of 5’5” and it has always been just a tad big. The Chromoly steel frame is more than up to the task of hauling you and all your gear—I rode the 431 mile Adirondack loop on this, fully loaded on a self-supported tour with four panniers and a handlebar bag. The wide range of gearing also helps!

Here’s a list of all the components:
* Shimano thumb shifters that can be set up as friction (my preference) or indexed
* Shimano Tourney front derailleur (brand new!)
* Shimano SIS rear derailleur
* Triple chainrings on the front: 48-38-28
* Shimano HG 8-speed rear cassette: 34-11
* Solid 31-hole 700c Alexrims on rear, laced to a Shimano Tiagra hub
* Araya front rim
* Bontrager 700x35 tires in excellent condition - great for road, but also beefy enough for gravel riding
* Sakae SX crankset
* Nice wide Crankbrothers 5050 pedals (nearly new - retail for $100!)
* Chromoly frame
* Cane Creek SCR5 brake levers on the drop bars
* Cane Creek Crossstop interrupter brake levers
* Cane Creek brake hoods (brand new!); I can also include a spare set of black ones, and one spare brown one
* Front & rear cantilever brakes with brake pads in excellent condition
* High rise stem
* Beautiful vintage handlebar with subtle engraved design
* Quick release skewers on front & rear wheels
* Quick release aluminum seatpost
* Nashbar saddle
* Also including a second saddle in black with Celeste blue
* Blackburn front & rear touring racks - used on only one tour, these currently retail for $260 ($140 rear / $120 front). They’re extremely solid and allow the bags to sit low, keeping the center of gravity low for stability and handling even when heavily loaded. This also allows you to strap dry bags to the tops of the racks and not interfere with access to your panniers.
* Nashbar front panniers (inside of the flaps is starting to delaminate but they’re still great for everyday use). I’m keeping the rear panniers, but you can easily find some used Ortliebs on eBay to complete your ride! Handlebar bag not included.
* Also including a Trek cable lock which is mountable to the frame - you’ll of course want to pair it with a sturdy U-lock, but this is nice to have to go through the wheels since they’re quick release
* Vintage Bianchi bottle cages; I can also include a spare white BikePlanet cage (bottles not included)

As with any vintage bike that’s actually been used and not just displayed, this one isn’t perfect: the biggest flaw is that the paint is chipped in two places as shown (the result of a recent move). I bet you could get some touch-up paint. There are also some other cosmetic issues once you look very closely, such as smaller scratches and some minor corrosion on some of the metal bits.

Selling everything for $800! A pretty sweet deal for a complete touring/commuter bike, ready to ride and make your vintage Bianchi dreams come true :) I imagine this will go quickly once the right person sees this listing, so reach out ASAP if you’re interested and ready to stop by! Located in downtown Ithaca, NY.
