Dynamic Teaching and Coaching for the GMAT, GRE, and SAT

In my decade of teaching, I have worked with GMAT and GRE students of all educational backgrounds and have helped them to maximize their scores through clear, precise and compassionate teaching combined with an exceptional content knowledge. Many of my students have previously used another form of test preparation and were not happy with the outcome, but after working with me, my students were thrilled at how easy and interesting math (yes even GMAT/GRE math) can be.

Private, Personalized Service

The GMAT and GRE exams tests many years of acquired math skills, in addition to logic and reasoning skills and far too often students are placed in a crowded classroom course that fails to deliver this knowledge in the time provided. I provide students with highly personalized teaching that is strategic to their needs. As a result, my students see greater improvement in their math abilities, confidence, and their scores.

Professional Teaching Experience

Too often many tutors have limited formal teaching experience and as a result are unskilled, ill-prepared, or unqualified for the challenging task of teaching adult professionals the math necessary for a good score. I have professionally taught students from grade school to graduate school and I realize the importance of clarity, organization, efficiency, and compassion while working with students.

Original Teaching Curriculum

Too often students are given inadequate practice materials and as a result, they struggle to acquire the practice that is necessary to internalize and understand the math material that is tested. I work with an original math curriculum that was created by high school math teachers, GMAT and GRE tutors, and college math professors. The questions afford my students the advantage of practicing with material that is realistic, skill-building, and that allows students to learn global skills that can be employed across a large facet of math questions.

I will look forward to speaking with you about how I can help you to reach your target score. Please respond to this ad with phone number and the best time to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also indicate the test you are studying for, and include a little bit about your goals. I am always interested in hearing about your unique background.

I have scored in the top percentiles of all test takers on the verbal and math sections of these tests, and have proven myself to be a successful teacher in assisting people in boosting their scores.

My typical students are those who have discovered most test prep books and commercial courses to be ineffective for their purposes, and who have decided to look for a highly skilled and exceptionally patient teacher for the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT exams.

Most people incorrectly feel that these tests cannot be studied, but my typical student sees a large increase in his average score. I teach proven skills and techniques for excelling on these exams, which reduce and eliminate feelings of anxiety and fear that are the result of not having a complete understanding of the tests and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught hundreds of students how to divide the material into a range of strategies for getting a high score and it would be my sincere pleasure to be your instructor, too.

Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you.
Let us swear while we may, for in Heaven it will not be allowed. Mark Twain: Travel has no longer any charm for me. Mark Twain: The inventor of their heaven empties into it all the nations of the earth, in one

common jumble. All are on an equality absolute, no one of them ranking another; they have to be "brothers"; they have to mix together, pray together, harp together, hosannah together--whites, niggers, Jews, everybody--there's no distinction. Here in the earth all nations hate each other, and every one of them hates the Jew. Yet every pious person adores that heaven and wants to get into it. He really does

I scored in the top percentiles of all test takers in the verbal portion of both tests, and have proven myself in assisting people in raising their verbal scores, too. Most of those who have sought me out as a tutor are those who have found most test prep books and commercial courses to be less than effective, and who have decided to look for a patient and skilled instructor for the verbal part of the GMAT, GRE and SAT tests.

Many people erroneously feel that the verbal part of these tests cannot be studied in a traditional way, but my average student succeeds in an increase of 100 points or more. I teach proven approaches to acing the verbal section of the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT, which reduce feelings of anxiety and fear -usually the result of not having a complete understand of the exam and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught several hundred students to distill the material into different techniques and strategies for getting a high score and it would be my pleasure to be your tutor, too. Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also include a little bit about your background and which test you are studying for. I always enjoy learning about people’s unique situations. Thank you and I will look forward to hearing from you. You can leave me the best number to reach you at.

Searching for inexpensive, talented, patient, Math Tutor 4 Adult (Ithaca)

Hello,

I am an adult female (mid thirties) going back to college for a career change.

I am an artist type that is educated with a degree from SVA in NYC.

Unfortunately, I never had interest in math. Or perhaps, truth be told, I had actual fear of math from a few former teachers embarrassing me and making me feel stupid in front of the class. Typically during this time frame most teachers would just focus on the student's who "got it" and ignored lost individuals like myself. Subsequently, growing up, I did everything I could to avoid math or even learn it.

Now I am at a point where I realize I actually need it.

Amazingly, I graduated from high school without ever learning Algebra. In 10th grade I took business math and afterward, never took a math class again. So embarrassingly, I need to re-learn basic math and learn algebra for the first time as well at this age.

I am looking for someone that is patient, loves to teach a fun / lively willing student, someone who is personable themselves, can explain in detail, talented, and currently excels at math.

Most importantly I am looking for inexpensive since I plan on meeting at least once or twice a week till spring... (I am very flexible with schedule)

Please write me back, tell me about yourself, rates, etc. etc. etc

Thanks

I am looking to round up a handful of music students interested in learning to play guitar and/or drums. I was a touring drummer with Donna the Buffalo for 12 years, and have taught many people to play in the past. My starting rate is $35 per hour, but that is negotiable depending upon the situation. I will consider trade and group rates (if two people want to take a lesson together and split it, for instance), as well as package deals (say 4 lessons for $100 a month). I can teach beginner to expert in drums and percussion, and beginner to intermediate on guitar. I can offer lessons at my house or your place, depending upon the need of the student. If you are looking to purchase a drum set, I can give you advice and point you in the right direction, as well. E-mail me if you are interested, and I will send you my phone number so we can work something out. Thank you for your interest,

VOICE LESSONS: Real teacher, Real singing, Real progress (Ithaca:: University Hill)

I am a local full-time singing teacher with over 35 years experience. There are still some openings in my autumn schedule.

I teach singing. Whatever you want to sing, I'll help that happen. I've had students go on to opera companies. I've had students front heavy alternative bands. I've had students appear in successful New York city productions. I've had students follow a singer-songwriter acoustic guitar career. I've worked many a successful jazz singer. I've helped some voices reverse the damage from years of abusive singing. I've had classical singers get their technique started before careers in major music schools. I don't impose my musical taste on a student; I help to bring out that student's musicianship in the safest, most bio-mechanically sound way possible for the individual's instrument.

Sometimes I have even helped students learn to match pitch and sing in tune.

Teaching is what I do. I have a passion for it. I don't teach on the side so I can financially support a singing career. I teach so I can teach. I've published, repeatedly, on voice pedagogy, and I've given workshops for professional voice pedagogues both across the country and internationally. I've presented before the National Association of Teachers of Singing, at the International Congress of Voice Teachers, at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto), and for the annual symposium of the Voice Foundation. So, no, I'm not a dilettante.

Lessons are a fifty-minute hour, scheduled weekly, at established times, at ten minutes after the hour (xx:10) between 10:10 am and 8:10 pm (per a clause in my studio lease). I do not teach on Mondays. Changes in scheduled time can occasionally be made to accommodate conflicts that may occur.

To see my online schedule of available times, click HERE.

From there you can poke around the rest of my website and find out more information than you would ever think to ask.

THE PRODUCT IS NOT THE GOAL.
Let the process deliver when mastery is achieved.

Oh, and yes, before you ask: Lessons are $50 per session.
There is a 20% discount for public school and matriculated students
($40 per session).

Yes, I know that price is low for the local market.

Do you have an instrument, but don't know how to play it? Are you (or your child) not getting enough 1:1 learning time while at school? I'm offering beginner lessons to children and adults, for either the violin or viola. I believe in learning to play correctly - but that having fun and playing song you like and know encourages students to *want* to practice and play.

Rates are reasonable: $15 for a 40-45 minute private lesson
Lessons can be taught in my home. If you don't have transportation, I may be able to travel - just ask.

Thanks for taking the time to read my ad,

After teaching music for twelve years, you learn quite a bit about what works and what doesn't. Many aspireing musicians are in a big hurry to sound great that they don't take the time to learn a solid technique. They often struggle trying to get to the "next level" in their playing never realizing that they've aquired bad habits along the way that keeps them from progressing. I offer a complete "ear opening" learning expirience. I teach finger exersizes that promote fluidity, speed, and rich tone. A complete analysis of scales and chords both in theory, and on the fret board (major, minor, dominant, pentatonic, chromatic, modes, augmented, and diminished). Sight reading, and ear training. Improvisation through any American style of music (jazz, blues, rock, funk, country, folk and fusion). The lessons are geared toward musicians who are on the professional path on all levels of experience. My rate is $30/hr. Lessons are held in my studio on Danby road close to Ithaca College, or at a place of your choosing. Email or call (607) 351-3294 to schedual a lesson.

Thanks again.

Ansel Adams

In my mind's eye, I visualize how a particular... sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice.

Do you play guitar? Theory too hard? Play 7 modes NOW!

Using my method, you can play in all twelve keys every mode in the major scale. You can do this by using only one fingering position that you move up or down the neck. I have been using this method for over twenty years! It always works-- a fool-proof way to instantly know all seven modes in all twelve keys. Works for bass, acoustic guitar and electric guitar. You can play the modes without any theory knowledge.

Play in:
AEOLIAN
LYDIAN
IONIAN
PHRYGIAN
DORIAN
MIXOLYDIAN &
LOCRIAN modes in all keys!

This method sidesteps music theory and will expand your playing greatly. $10.00, NO SHIPPING FEE CHARGED. E-mail me for the beginning section of the text. Never hit a bad note again! No, it’s not a scam; I can prove it.

From Modes Method users:
So far, so good. I half expected this to be a scam or some useless lesson that I could have figured out on my own. I was wrong. It is actually very useful and I was surprised at its simplicity. For someone like myself, it works very well and was worth the money I spent. Thanks again---Joe

Dan, got the stuff...I'm working on it. It will be a help and was defintely worth the $10 bucks! --Steve

Ive been using these scale patterns for years, but never made the connection to modes. This has been very useful. --Thanks, Steven.

Dan, thanks, got this yesterday. It is definitely one of those “duh!” things, beautiful in its simplicity. Thanks again, Steve.
I spent the past year in Israel and the West Bank, and before that I studied Arabic at Cornell for a year. I have a strong grasp on the Arabic alphabet, writing, a bit of reading, and some vocab. To be honest, I'm not really sure what dialect I was learning, but my teachers were Jordanian and Iraqi at Cornell. I'm looking for someone just to talk with, and learn together with, mostly everyday vocab (foods, places, people, stories...) and how to conjugate verbs. I'm definetly interested in conversational skills. I'm willing to spend ten dollars an hour, maybeeee fifteen if you're really good! Right now I have lots of hours free, late afternoon and evenings would be best. I can meet you anywhere in Ithaca. Thank you!
